Meeting notes in a folder you choose. The audio never leaves your Mac.

Takku records both sides of a call, transcribes it on your Mac and writes the summary at the top of your note. An alternative to Granola for people and companies that care where their meeting data goes.

Download for Mac

Free and open source. No account, no subscription. For Macs with Apple Silicon and macOS 15 or later.

Or with Homebrew: brew install --cask mameli/takku/takku

How Takku works Your microphone and the call go into a transcript, written on your Mac, with each speaker in a different colour. The transcript becomes a meeting note in a folder on your Mac, with the summary on top. The summary is written by a model on your Mac or by a provider you choose. The audio stays on your Mac. your Mac your mic the call Meet, Zoom, Teams… the transcript Whisper or Parakeet the audio stays in here the summary on your Mac, or a provider you choose meeting note in a folder you choose

Keep what’s on screen

A slide, a diagram, a dashboard someone shares: press ⌃⌥⌘S during the call. Takku saves the picture in your notes folder and embeds it right under the point of the summary it belongs to and next to what people were saying in the transcript.

It marks the moment too, so the summary gives it priority. The model that writes the summary never sees the picture.

  • The audio stays on your Mac

Parakeet or Whisper transcribe the call on your Mac, and Takku uploads no recording.

  • No subscription

Takku is free. A summary costs nothing with a model on your Mac, or about 3 cents with Takku Credit, which never expires. Granola Business is $14 per user a month.

  • Open source, nothing hidden

The code is public under the MIT license: anyone can check what Takku does with your meetings. No account to create, nothing to sign in to.

  • You choose who writes the summary

Apple Intelligence or a model on your Mac, a provider you trust in the EU, or Takku Credit with nothing to set up. It reads the transcript, never the audio.

  • Notes where you already write

The note opens when the call starts, in Obsidian or any editor. Takku keeps what you write and uses it to shape the summary. The notes are plain Markdown files, and they stay yours.

  • Any call, in your language

Meet, Zoom, Teams or any other app, or a recording you import: a voice memo, a lecture, the video of a call. In Italian, English, German, French, Spanish and 20 more European languages, telling the speakers apart.

Where your data goes lists everything Takku keeps and sends. The FAQ answers the rest.
